The Murray McDavid brand was established in 1996 by legendary whisky players Mark Reynier, Simon Coughlin and Gordon Wright. Murray McDavid purchased the Bruichladdich distillery in 2000 where legendary master distiller Jim McEwan left Bowmore to join the Bruichladdich and Murray McDavid team.
In 2012 Remy Cointreau purchased the Bruichladdich Distillery selling the Murray McDavid brand in 2013 to Edward Odim of ACEO whom stated "Our intention is to continue the legacy of Murray McDavid by staying true to its founders' vision and principles such as bottling carefully selected single malts without chill-filtering or adding colour and continuing and developing the tradition of ACE-ing our whiskies".
Over 8000 barrels aging makes it one of the most extensive collections of independent whiskies and rums in the world. Its storehouse is located at Coleburn Distillery in Speyside, the heart of many of the world's great distilleries, including Macallan, Craigallachie and Glen Moray.
