This is a special whiskey that uses only distiller K and uses 100% Japanese malted barley. Not only is it a single malt whiskey (only whiskey from a single distillery), but it is also composed entirely of whiskies from a single initial distiller. Therefore, it is described as "single-wash still whiskey". (This expression is unique to Shizuoka Distillery)
The delicate and luscious taste of Japanese barley is further elegantly polished by the distiller "K". This taste is a taste only Shizuoka Distillery can produce. The product name is “Pot Still K” because it is the successor to Prologue K and represents that it is made from undiluted whiskey from a single initial distiller. It also bears the words “pure Japanese barley,” which uses 100% Japanese malted barley, and “first edition,” which indicates the first edition.

"Single Malt Japanese Whiskey Shizuoka Pot Still K Pure Japanese Barley First Edition" is a paired item with a different initial distiller and barley production area.
Only imported barley malt is used, which is the exact opposite of "Pot Still K Pure Japanese Barley First Edition" which uses 100% Japanese barley malt. In addition to Scottish peated malt, it combines German beer (pilsner) malt.Barley, which has a strong flavor, is made more powerful by the wood-fired direct-fire distiller W. It is a very rare manufacturing method in the world, where thinned wood cut from the Oku Shizuoka forest is used as a heat source and distilled at a high temperature of 800 degrees Celsius. It is an item that pursues a new Shizuoka style, with a gentle mouth opening and a gradually strong peaty feel.
*Although this product uses imported ingredients, it is a "Japanese single malt whiskey" that meets the Japanese whiskey standards set by the Japan Brewers Association.

Made with Scottish whisky barley
Pot Still K is a single wash still whisky made exclusively from the spirit distilled in Pot still K - a legendary steam-heating still at Shizuoka Distillery. Imported Barley First Edition is the first bottling using 100% imported barley as the malt ingredient. Made with Scottish whisky barley, it showcases the characteristic light and fruity flavor of Pot Still K, while taking on a subtle smokiness. Please enjoy this Japanese whisky born from imported malted barley.
Distiller K is a 3,500-liter wash still from a historical distiller manufactured in Japan in the 1950s. The supple and graceful silhouette and the indirect heating of the steam create an unblended whisky with a light and gorgeous taste. Although this product uses imported ingredients, it is a "Japanese single malt whisky" that meets the Japanese whisky standards set by the Japan Brewers Association.

A single malt created by blending two pot stills, nicknamed W and K. Smooth and balanced.
At Shizuoka Distillery, two pot stills, nicknamed W and K, produce distinct and unique spirits. United S is a Single Malt created by blending both of these spirits. Its smooth and balanced flavor can be likened to a sphere. The K, with its steam heating, forms the upper half of the sphere with its fruity aroma and light taste, while the W, heated by direct wood fire, provides a heavy taste and long finish, supporting the lower half of the sphere.
Located halfway between Tokyo and Nagoya, Shizuoka is reportedly the only whisky distillery in the world solely burning timber to heat a wash still during distillation. The ingredients in United S consist of Japanese malted barley as the core, combined with Scottish non-peated malt, peated malt, and malt for beer. The barrels used are primarily first-fill bourbon barrels, with wine barrels also utilized. Please enjoy Single Malt S, the culmination of Shizuoka Distillery's expertise.

Made with 100% domestically grown barley
Pot Still W is a single wash still whisky, made solely from the distillate produced by Shizuoka's initial distillation machine, Pot Still W. Japanese Barley 1st Edition marks the first bottling that uses 100% domestically grown barley malt as its raw material. Since its operation began in 2016, the Shizuoka Distillery has been brewing using domestic barley malt. While domestic malt is more expensive than foreign malt, it produces a delicate and sweet flavor. Please enjoy this Japanese whisky, a harmonious blend of the smoothness of direct wood fire and the lightness of Japanese barley.
There are only a limited number of direct-fire distillers worldwide, and among them, wood-fired distillers are unique. Local woodcutters split the thinned coniferous trees that overflow from the rich mountains of Shizuoka into firewood. Reviving distilling techniques from over 200 years ago, this whisky was distilled by burning wood. Today, most of the malt whiskies made worldwide do not specify the origin of barley. However, there is a rising demand for Distillers to use locally sourced ingredients. For this 100% Japanese Barley First Edition, Shizuoka prepares whiskey separately for each barley production area and makes whiskey that allows you to feel the terroir.
