Blackadder's Peat Reek is an exclusive 10 year old Islay single malt scotch whisky. This exclusive USA release is a Glass Revolution Dram Hunter selection.

Peat Reek is the smell of burning peat, the flavours of which are imparted to malting barley as it is slowly dried while the smoky reek of the peat is drawn over it. For Blackadder Peat Reek, we select only casks of whisky produced using malted barley that has been heavily impregnated with the phenols and creosols of a gently-smouldering peat fire. On the front label, you will see that this offering has an official analysis of 20 PPM -which lets you know just how peaty your dram is!


Peat Reek Embers are specially-selected casks from our already well-known Peat Reek portfolio. These are casks that we feel stand out from amongst a selection of which we are already very proud. This in no way means we think they are better than others in the Peat Reek selection. All have the heavily-peated quality that is a hallmark of Peat Reek, but some of the Embers range have been given cask finishes selected to help further complement the whisky. As with the burning embers of a fire, the finish lingers long after the last sip.

Robin Tucek is also co-auther with John Lamond of The Malt Whisky File – one of the most respected books about malt whisky

The Blackadder Raw Cask whiskies are complete cask whiskies bottled containing cask sediment.

DISTILLERY STORY

Blackadder’s philosophy is very simple – they believe that the Cask is King. Sixty to seventy percent of the flavors in a whisky are taken up slowly from the cask as the spirit lies maturing in the warehouse. The action of changing temperature draws the spirit in and out of the cask.

A family operation started and piloted by whisky legend Robin Tucek, they sell to a few limited countries around the world, primarily Tiawan, Japan, the USA and Sweden.

Every cask is unique, with its own fingerprint. This is why they bottle most of their whiskies from single casks. They don’t believe in chilling or otherwise heavily filtering their whiskies, and they never, repeat never, add caramel coloring or flavoring to their spirits. They have always believed the personalities of their whiskies are colorful enough. Their raw cask is famous for the barrel char in each bottle.
