Blackadder is proud to offer this delightful 16 year old Raw Cask Bas Armagnac from Chateau Garreau. It is 100% Baco Grape.
This exclusive Blackadder International Selection comes with a certificate listing the individual bottle number. There are only 18 bottles available in the USA, and 150 bottles worldwide.
Founded in 1919, Chateau Garreau sits at the heart of the golden triangle of Armagnac - producing the First Grands Crus of Grand Bas Armagnac. The Chateau also has the only underground cellar in the Bas Armagnac region.
Distillation uses a SIER continuous column still which dates from the year of the company’s foundation. This Armagnac was matured in a new Gascon Oak cask, produced by the local cooper Batholomo.
Also known as the Gayrosse estate, Chateau Garreau’s vineyard extends over 26 hectares, straddling the departments of Landes and Gers. Its location, at the heart of Bas Armagnac, near the magnificent medieval city (thirteenth century) of Labastide d’Armagnac, makes it one of the most beautiful jewels of Armagnac.
This product of France was distilled and casked November 2005 and was bottled by Chateau Garreau in November, 2021. There was no colour added and no chill filtration.

DISTILLERY STORY
Blackadder’s philosophy is very simple – they believe that the Cask is King. Sixty to seventy percent of the flavours in a whisky are taken up slowly from the cask as the spirit lies maturing in the warehouse. The action of changing temperature draws the spirit in and out of the cask. Every cask is unique, with its own fingerprint. This is why they bottle most of their whiskies from single casks. They don’t believe in chilling or otherwise heavily filtering their whiskies, and they never, repeat never, add caramel colouring and flavouring to their spirits. They have always believed the personalities of their whiskies are colourful enough.
