Since the beginning of 2020, we are spending more time at home, and less time out in the world. While drinking your favorite spirit at a bar became difficult, many bloggers, distributors and bartenders turned to the virtual world. Virtual tastings have actually been around for a few years, but the demand skyrocketed at the onset of the pandemic. These tastings can be intimate gatherings of friends or widely attended expert-run events. While many still prefer attending in person tastings (when safe to do so), virtual tastings offer incredibly valuable experiences too. 

Virtual tastings vary in size  

Everyone has their own preference when it comes to tasting spirits in groups. Some prefer smaller groups where they can have intimate conversations and give more in-depth feedback. Without all the hustle and bustle of attending an in person tasting, virtual tastings are certainly convenient. Attending a tasting on the smart device of your preference allows you the freedom to enjoy your spirit at home. Stay in your PJs and sit on the couch or head to your retreat for the ultimate tasting experience. Plus, you have the added bonus of indulging without having to get home afterwards.

For many virtual tastings, samples are delivered directly to your door. During the one to two-hour tastings, you are led through an educational experience by an expert in the field. These virtual tastings give you the opportunity to ask questions, interact with others and develop your spirits knowledge. 

While you may not be able to make some of the virtual tasting times due to other obligations, many of them are recorded. This allows you to watch them at your leisure and still gain valuable knowledge. You can even schedule your own virtual tasting with your friends. Do some research on the spirit of your choice and lead your tasting for a unique experience you and your friends will love.
