DISTILLER HIGHLIGHTS
Viking sagas and old legends often tell the story of magical swords, sharper, stronger and fiercer than any other. Swords that were more exclusive and powerful than any other swords of the Viking era, swords engraved with a name on the blade, like INGELRED. This is the inspiration for each bottle of lngelred whisky.
INGELRED Whiskies are part of the Glass Revolution family through our friends at Blackadder. Blackadder distributes INGELRED and was kind enough to share a few special bottlings with their American friends.
DISTILLERY STORY
INGELRED Whisky is owned by an individual bottler specializing in producing uniquely-matured whisky. It brings together the craftmanship of a Scottish whisky distillery with Nordic innovation. For twenty years INGELRED Whisky has invested in whisky casks and gathered know-how about whisky ageing and recasking.
The ethos behind INGELRED is to produce whisky that we love ourselves, and that we know will appeal to other malt lovers. We ask ourselves questions like, "What happens if you re-rack whisky from a bourbon cask to a sherry cask and then finish it in a port cask?", "Is it possible to have a cask of Swedish oak as a carry-on item on a flight to Scotland to test the finished whisky that has matured in American oak?" and "If you mature whisky in two different Californian red wine casks with new-make from the same batch in the same warehouse, how will you notice the difference?" This is the curiosity that defines INGELRED Whisky, bottled for anyone with a passion for malts. It's prime Scotch whisky matured to outstanding results - whisky with an edge!
The legend of INGELRED is over a thousand years old. The INGELRED sword combined the best of two worlds: from India, the materials and knowledge to make high-carbon steel, and the skills of a Viking blacksmith.
